Magnolia grandiflora

Who doesn’t dream of a bloom that starts in early summer and only comes to an end in autumn. Magnolia grandiflora (evergreen Magnolia) does not have a short, full bloom like many of the deciduous species.

It chooses to spread its flowering over a long period of time and therefore provides months of lovely sweet perfume in the garden. The fruits that remain on the tree after flowering also have nice ornamental value.

THE STRIKING AND CONTRASTING LEAVES OF MAGNOLIA GRANDIFLORA ARE SMOOTH AND DARK GREEN ON TOP, SOFT AND RUST-COLOURED UNDERNEATH.

The cream-coloured flowers are conical and closed at first.
When the Magnolia grandiflora's flower opens, it can be up to 25 cm wide. A beautiful, large flower with a lovely fragrance.

Older, characterful specimens develop a beautiful, thick trunk whose bark is grey-brown and smooth.

Once the flowers have finished blooming, the beautiful fruits of Magnolia grandiflora attract attention. These also show an interesting contrast between the light green fruit leaves and the orange-brown stem.
